Review

Every Pregnancy is about current issues surrounding pregnancy. Some of
these issues include the pregnant woman’s emotions, the changing
nature of her relationships during pregnancy, and the likely reactions
of husband and other children to the impending birth.

In a highly technological world, individuals’ needs are often
labelled in a way that makes them common to all people in a particular
category, so that they may be dealt with as “efficiently” as
possible. Doan successfully circumvents this tendency. Over and over,
she emphasizes the uniqueness of each experience of pregnancy.

Doan also comprehensively describes the physical changes a woman
experiences during pregnancy, the birth process itself, and current
research surrounding pregnancy. Thus this book should also be of great
interest to any health-care professionals whose work brings them into
contact with pregnant women.
