Review

Water Gardens is an inviting and enjoyable book. Scattered throughout
are excellent photographs of water gardens, to help the reader visualize
the possibilities.

This brief but informative work is divided into five chapters, written
by different experts. The editors bring the various authors’ styles
together into a harmonious package. The chapters cover everything from
planning and design to recommendations on plant selection. The
information is presented clearly, so that anyone can follow. The book
also includes a valuable list of sources of plant material and of
equipment for the water gardener.

The book’s only possible fault is that it was not designed to serve
the already practicing water gardener. It does include some details
regarding problems and solutions, but not enough to justify the purchase
for anyone who has been operating for a few years. Still, the book is a
delight to read, and it will promote the interest of many into
developing water gardens of their own.
