Review

This author has lived through that most common of childhood afflictions,
dinosaurmania. Every parent and teacher of young children should read
this book.

Degler approaches questions from the factual (Which was the biggest
dinosaur?) to the sublime (Did dinosaurs wag their tails?) with the same
authoritative yet practical style. Drawing on the expertise of
paleontologists from across Canada, she gives the most current
information available. She does not shy away from even the most esoteric
topics, and readily admits that not all questions can be given a
definitive answer. She points out that many questions are still
unresolved; for example, much controversy swirls around the
warm-blooded/cold-blooded debate.

This book is filled with juicy tidbits of information that may give
unsuspecting adults a fall-back option when an inquisitive five-year-old
confronts them with an unexpected question. I suspect that Degler
continues to have a soft spot for dinosaurs. Her book combines humor and
factual content in an entertaining and informative package.
