Review

The author, a climatologist and the originator of the successful Weather
Calendar also writes the “Weatherwise” column for Canadian
Geographic magazine. He begins this book with a discussion of the
controlling factors that produce weather globally and then describes the
various climatic elements, such as snow, with which Canadians are all
too familiar. There follows an excellent overview of the characteristic
weather of each province and territory. A wealth of information is
presented in clear, nontechnical language. The text is enhanced by
numerous high-quality color photographs, as well as charts, drawings,
tables, a glossary of terms, and a bibliography of further readings.
This informative and entertaining book belongs in every library and will
be enjoyed by anyone with even a minimal interest in the weather.
